28 Sep Postponement of the International Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe, that was to be held in Chania on 7-9 October 2020, for the 5-7 October 2022, due to the measures taken worldwide for Covid 19.

The International Annual Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe, which originally would be held in Chania between 7-9 October 2020, is postponed due to the measures taken worldwide for Covid 19, and will take place 5-7 October 2022.

Following a series of teleconferences, the Council of Europe, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports and the European Historic Cafes Association (EHICA) agreed that the Annual Forum “Cultural Routes” that is attended by hundreds representatives from at least 55 countries, should be postponed.
Therefore the co-organizers of the Forum (the Council of Europe, the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports, the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Chania and the European Historic Cafes Association) unanimously decided to postpone the forum for October 5-7, 2022.
It is worth noting that the idea of hosting the Forum was held by European Historic Cafes Association. September 2017, at the annual “Cultural Routes” Forum held in the medieval town of Luca, Italy, Vasilis Stathakis, discussed with the President (at that time) of the Enlarged Partial Agreement Of the Council of Europe,  Alfredas Jomandas and the executive secretary of the Council of Europe’s Enlarged Partial Agreement on Cultural Routes and Director of the Institute of Cultural Routes Stefano Dominioni, the idea to host the forum of “Cultural Routes” in Chania in 2020.

Vasilis Stathakis immediately after, had meetings with the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Chania and the Chamber of Commerce of Chania. All of them helped –from the beginning- in every way the effort.
The Ministry of Tourism and the Greek National Tourism Organisation are also amongst the Forum supporters.
The hosting of the International Advisory Forum “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe in Chania, marks a broader cooperation of Mr. Stathakis with the Council of Europe. On the occasion of the Forum to be held in Chania, the President of EHICA also made two important proposals to Snežana Samardžić – Marković, Director General of the Council of Europe and to the Executive Secretary of the Enlarged Partial Agreement on “Cultural Routes” of the Council of Europe and Director of the Institute Stefano Dominioni, about the launching of an office – branch of  “Cultural Routes” in Chania, Crete, and the permanent holding of the Forum “Cultural Routes” in Chania.
